Mustard-Rapeseed is the second major oilseed in India. It contributes nearly 19.5 and 22.5 per cent to the oilseeds acreage and production respectively. The productivity in India is about 65 per cent of world average. Since, it is a rich source of unsaturated fatty acid with lowest concentration of saturated fatty acid; it is nutritionally superior compared to other oilseeds.
This profile has been prepared with a view to enable the farmers to scientifically manage the post-harvest operations in respect of mustard- rapeseed crop in order to realize higher price in the market. This profile covers all important aspects of marketing including post-harvest management, marketing practices, quality standards and grading, packaging, transportation, storage, SPS requirements, etc. of mustard- rapeseed and could be of immense use to the various stake holders involved with the commodity, in general, and the producer-sellers in particular, in the changing agricultural marketing scenario having global perspective.
